I was watching ESPN after work one evening, and when supper was ready, I left the TV on when I went into the kitchen. Minutes later, I heard a laugh track coming from the other room. Since I didn't know of any ESPN shows with a laugh track, I went back in the living room to check. The TV was now tuned to "Married. . .With Children," and my cat was sitting on the couch. Now, I understand how a cat can operate a remote, but what was sweet little Lizzie doing watching that show?

Story behind the song
These entries were retrieved from Icepac’s diary. He wrote them just before his disappearance.... 12/08/2007 - Dear Diary, I can’t bring myself to work on “Another Ruined Christmas” any more for now. All that wallowing in my childhood memories and those other borrowed or invented childhood memories has left me in a deep funk. It’s a shame, as I think the theme could tap into the zeitgeist… it would touch people deeply, and I need a new car. On the up side, while exploring childhood memories, I got to thinking about those instrumentals they used to play on the radio at the top of the hour just before the news. They would get the news from a network feed, so they needed to be playing something they could fade out in the middle, and so it created niche for instrumentals, particularly novelty songs featuring the synthesizer, which still sounded new and fresh to the listening public. I remember Popcorn (still popular today) as well as “Percolator Twist” – an arrangement of the tune from a Maxwell House coffee commercial, and “Keem-O-Sabe” by Electric Indian – they don’t write them like that anymore! I wonder if I could record something like that… 12/12/2007 - Dear Diary, I really think that Ned Sublette has the right idea. I’ve been aware of his music for a long time, but only recently because aware that he’s an academic as well. He alternates stints of creating quirky music with writing scholarly books. Seems like a good life. I’ve never thought of myself as exactly university material, but it would sure be nice to have something to fall back on when the music isn’t moving off the shelves… there are the ex-wives to think about, and I’m not sure any of my children and grandchildren are ever going to get real jobs. I am strongly considering returning to school, and doing a thesis on “The legend of Saint Blebs, the living statue on the beach.” I am uniquely positioned to write on this topic, having gathered information that nobody else knows. on my last trip to Brazil. Well, nobody except Sknoblogger, and he’s not going to fight with me over this intellectual property, he’s riding high right now, touring Europe as the music director for the Marc Moulin Orchestra. Sweet gig, I could get something like that if I could read music. Or properly play and instrument. Or sing. Kind of depressing. I’ve started working on my instrumental, it’s going well. 12/16/2007 - Dear Diary, Things moving unusually fast for me. I’ve applied for admission to the Ethnomusicology Department at the U of A, and made arrangements to return to Brazil to do additional research on Saint Blebs. I’ll spend a week at Ubatuba, then an additional couple of weeks in Sao Paulo. I have to remember to see if I can do a show or two, to try to offset my expenses a bit. I have come to a complete mental block on the instrumental. What I’ve done is solid, but it doesn’t go anywhere. Time some fairy dust from Dr. Fixit. I’m waiting for an e-mail back from him, I’ll know soon if he has time. 12/20/2007 - Dear Diary, Looks like I’ll do a show at either Lady Hell or Bar B. Lady Hell is long established, Bar B is relatively new. Doesn’t matter to me as long as I get paid. I’ve sent the instrumental (now named “Give Someone You Love a Vegematic”) to Sknoblogger. I hope he can do something with it. 12/23/2007 - Dear Diary, Got “Give Someone You Love a Vegematic” back from Sknoblogger. Oh my gosh, his work on it is brilliant! I love it, after I picked myself up off the floor (I’ve been rolling around and frothing at the mouth in delirium!) and brushed the chunks of broken furniture off my jacket, I knew it would be a hit. I e-mailed it to our agent. Before he heard it, he didn’t think an instrumental had any commercial potential, but he vowed to flog this one, he said it’s the best thing he’s heard since he started in the business, representing popular megaphone singers such as Teddy Taylor. I leave for Brazil tomorrow. The
