An angry rock anthem in a style similar to Kansas.
***Originally recorded on cassette tape with two mid-quality mics almost 28 years ago...not the best quality, but the only recording currently in existence.***
On December 3, 1979 eleven people were killed and dozens injured when fans lined up outside a venue where a Who concert was to take place mistook their soundcheck for the start of the concert and rushed the doors to enter the arena. I wrote this song the morning after...as a scathing slam to those selfish souls who caused the massacre.
Get up! Show me the door!
Things are getting’ crazy ‘round here
Wake up! Don’t wanna see any more!
This fighting’s just too much for me
These ain’t the things I wanna see
I’m choking, got no breathing room
Can’t make me live inside your tomb
Pent up! Like a bird in a cage
People live their lives without a dream
Caught up! In the webs of their minds
No longer can I keep inside
This raging fire won’t let me hide
So many things I’ve yet to see
The future holds enough for me
Can you see?
Past the end of your nose there’s a whole world lying there
Can you see?
If you’d only believe me I’m sure you’d come to care
Can you see?
After all these years you’d think we’d both agree
Can you see?
