Chorus:
Apalachicola…
Tumbles off my tongue
Apalachicola...
Calls me to come
This mystical river
When there, we're one
Oh I miss it so
Yea, Yea, I long to go
to Apalachicola…
V1
"The Big River" starts
with the Appalachian Trail
And ends up where
world class oysters hail,
Apalachicola,
A sleepy town
At the Gulf of Mexico
Hawks rest
In Tupelo trees
Cranes walk
in the cool breeze
Buzzards cruise
the wide blue sky
Searching for
a food a supply
Wildflowers grow
Along the water’s edge
A spider climbs
on a fallen hedge
As snakes slide past
swamp-soaked trees
And the air is filled
with buzzing bees
Chorus:
Apalachicola…
Tumbles off my tongue
Apalachicola...
Calls me to come
This mystical river
When there, we're one
Oh I miss it so
Yea, Yea, I long to go
to Apalachicola…
V2
A lone tug passes
simple houseboats
The Captain waves
As his barge floats
down the lazy river
Past squirrels at play
Along the Intracoastal
Waterway
Boats tie up
to cypress stumps
Catch bass and bream
And watch the gar jump
Or anchor along
the sandy gravel bars
Maybe catch a glimpse
Of evenins’ first star
Backwaters, wild
and mysterious
Darkness brings
All kinds of bugs
And the bellow
of a ‘gator’s call
With the shining pink eyes
that cut, cut thru the fog
Chorus:
Apalachicola…
Tumbles off my tongue
Apalachicola...
Calls me to come
This mystical river
When there, we're one
Oh I miss it so
Yea, Yea, I long to go
to Apalachicola…
