The song's riffs started out in RandyTab, as with the last one, and I kept adding stuff to it. This was one of the first M.J. songs (losing my mind is the other) that used harmonized lead guitar.
The title came about when a former lover turned up on instant message one night, and in a pathetic act to jump from a sinking relationship at the time, I tried to get back with her that night, and the attempt failed, so my last words that never got through were "See You on the Other Side".
