Story behind the song
I immediately ran downstairs with this acoustic song I had just written and played it for my mother. I knew something was up when she liked it too. It took Madonna & bj a while to figure out what to do on the breakdown. Man, they came up with the perfect part!
Lyrics
Some people live their lives inside four walls In self-created prisons, yeah They don’t dare go outside themselves I don’t know the reason, no They won’t get too close, won’t get too near To a life they fear Don’t know the joy, or know the feel Of being real You were once like them, afraid to change, afraid to live Fear held you back, nothing to say, ya had nothing to give Don’t look too strange, or non-conform You better act the norm Just don’t care, what they think or say ‘cause you’re okay You can’t let them stop you or hold you down, you’ve learned to fly Now go beyond their mundane lives, and just say goodbye Some people go through their lives with blinders on To keep a narrow vision They don’t want to change and don’t you try They’ll try to change you’re decision Don’t look too strange, or non-conform You better act the norm Just don’t care, what they think or say ‘cause you’re okay Say goodbye, say good bye, ya better say good bye, gotta say good bye…
