An Invention in Two Parts in the Key of C for Organ
Story behind the song
I grew up with my mother as the little church lady playing the pipe organ. Once I'd started composing more seriously, I decided to present her with a few pieces for organ.
This is the latest of that series, my Christmas present to my mother for the year 2007.
The title translates roughly to "A thinking song." I wanted to give it a more personal title than just the generic "Invention in Two Parts," and went for something properly pedantic and German while still appropriately descriptive.
