Many genres, Contemporary Christian, Lyrics, instrumentals
I write my own songs ;) I have a very diverse taste in music, from Pop to Classical, including Rock, Folk, Jazz, Country, World Music (Celtic, Romanian), Old Timey Stringband/Bluegrass, and Latin. All these styles are in my Christian Contemporary catagory. I usually write the music first, and then put words to the music. Though I don't sing good enough yet, I though I would put my instrumentals out along with my music. Generally, I think my music/lyrics are getting better, being more skilled now than when I started.

Story behind the song
This is my third song, which I composed. I heard something like this verse melody in my sleep. It was too simple, sounding simular to the choir part of Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desire". I soon got up and started to put it together at the keyboard. Then, it seemed to need an intro. It turns out to be a list song with an intro.
Lyrics
Whatever (Phil 4:8) - (the mind of Christ is balanced) Intro: When the earth quakes, When the dike breaks, When I'm hung out to dry I sink (down) in prayer, give You (all) my cares, and replace them With Your Peace of mind (music) and replace them With Your Peace of mind (music) and replace them With Your Peace of mind Chorus: Whatever's true, whatever's noble, think of these. Whatever's just, whatever's pure, keep in mind. Whatever's sweet, whatever's good, that'll please. Think of brav'ry, and praise worthy, take some time. verse 1: There's a certain truth/ beyond skies of blue. There's a noble creed/ before earth was treed. There's a 'just', just right/ at the end of time. There's a 'pure' with hope/ more than finest soap. (chorus) verse 2: And there's sweeter things/ like when children sing. And there's more good news,/ ev'ryone can use. An excellant cause/ gives our world a pause. There are things to praise/ in those 'gainst our ways. (chorus) (repeat chorus) Outro:(Phil 4:9) Put in practice What you've learned and heard What you've seen in what we do And the God of Peace Will be right there with you copyright 2006 David Davis http://postadavisongs.50webs.com/Whatever.html
