Lyrics
His Letter She got his letter yesterday And read aloud what he had to say Honey I miss you more each day I’m sorry this has to be It’s day to day in this living Hell With roadside bombs and mortar shells As fires burn an un-Godly smell Please say a prayer for me And tell the kids I miss them so They’re in my heart everywhere I go I love you more than you’ll ever know But I’m here for what I believe And give a call to cousin Joe We’ll go hunting when I get home I never thought I’d miss the cold Though right now I’d love to freeze ********************************** Now the sarge says we gotta move Hopin’ today will go real smooth Hugs and kisses to all of yous As its off to duty for me He ended with an X X O It kinda looked like tic-tac-toe Wasn’t one to go with the flow It was pretty clear to see ********************************* From a firefight along the way A life is gone, a family changed He served with pride and honor to his final day For destiny is what we make In a ruthless world of give and take And the consequence is a heavy price to pay ********************************** Tears rolled down her cheek today When sad news arrived of his fate As the MPs left and drove away She was overcome with grief Another widow at a younger age Copes with anger and inner rage Hoping her man didn’t die in vain Such a high cost to be free ********************************** She got his letter yesterday And read aloud what he had to say Honey I miss you more each day I’m sorry this has to be ©2007 Marc Bear Grindle, BMI, All rights reserved
