Story behind the song
The title is ripped from a friend of mine, John Bacon's, poem. The rest is just about how people we think have it easy, the beautiful people, really may have it tough.
Lyrics
F# Her father should have known B2 Forty-one years ago F# B2 She was a different one F# B2 Thirty straight days of rain F# B2 Then she’s born and out comes the sun F# B2 Her parents named her Patricia F# B2 Everybody else just called her beautiful F# B2 And, oh, wasn’t life going to be easy F# B2 It always is when you’re beautiful (Chorus) C#7Sus B2 But on Friday nights you’ll find her in her room F# B2 She’s wishing on stars all alone C#7 B2 She’s bearing the burden of being a beauty F# B2 F# B2 Why won’t anybody take her home (last time change to “And I think I’m going to take her home”) F# B2 Her eyes tell the stories F# B2 Of ten million tears F# B2 I wish I could have been there To kiss away every one F# B2 Throughout the years (Chorus) (Bridge) C# B Because on Friday nights you’ll find me in my room F# B I’m wishing on stars all alone C# B Wondering why I don’t have the courage F# B2 F# B2 To just take her home F# B2 We’re taught to fear that which we do not know F# B2 And I’ve never known anybody like her F# B2 But I am afraid I would regret all my days F# B2 If I did not try to share my life with hers (Chorus)
