A Zeppelin type blues rock stomper about about a friend that was hooked on heroin, and tried to keep it a secret. But I knew the deal even though he would never admit it. So this song is kind of about my wish for him trying pull thru it. Die to live
Lyrics are the last thing to come to me. And many times I end up just writing something that sounds good! Once I get started, the song kinda takes shape based off that. I start with the first couple lines and the subject matter just kinda takes shape from there. I was into a band called Big Wreck at the time, and was messing around with an alt tuning when this song came about. I'm not even sure what the tuning is now, but it was really fun to play.
It's getting crowded now in your head.
Too late to worry 'bout those things that you said.
Down to the minute you're holding your breath.
Because I know.
Over under, place your bets.
No time to turn around you ain't finished yet.
One day realize your table has turned.
Because I know.
Cast away your judgement day.
Now you can see that it's keeping you down.
Die to live another way.
So hold on.
When you know (you're looking for truth).
When you see (nothing left in you).
Can't escape (you're tied to the rail).
Can't keep what you take away.
Solo
