Story behind the song
I heard there was a contest to write a new state song,So I wrote what I wanted to say.After I wrote the song,I went online ,only to discover that the elitist rules that the Florida music educators association had decided on were unfair to any one poor and not formaly trained . That includes most of Florida folk music writers.The rules for the contest,however, are inclusive to those who are running it.I decided that I would put my song online for Floridians to hear,and not enter the contest.NPUBLICI
