'Secret Santas' are one of the highlights of Christmas. To this day, no one knows who Mrs. C could be!
One day, a long time ago
They say it just arrived as
Mrs. Claus’s casserole
Nobody ever came for the dish
Now we have twenty-nine of them
If there’s one thing we wish
Please, Mrs. C
Reveal the mystery
Your casserole’s delicious
Please identify yourself ---
Please, Mrs. C
With cuisine fit for a queen
We have no more room for dishes
On our church’s kitchen shelf ---
Each year at the “Secret Santa Lunch”
We gather food and toys
For the folks who don’t have much
Nobody puts their name on things they bring
That’s why it’s called a “secret”
That’s the meaning of the thing ---
But it’s a mystery who Mrs. C might be
She’s got to be an elder
At least elderer than me
The casserole is huge in a Navy baking pan
Maybe “she” is a “he”
Maybe Mrs. C’s a man? ---
Please, Mrs. C
Reveal the mystery
Your casserole’s delicious
Please identify yourself ---
Please, Mrs. C
With cuisine fit for a queen
We have no more room for dishes
On our church’s kitchen shelf ---
One day, while sitting in my room
I smelled somebody’s cooking
Like an old familiar tune ---
It was sometime in June
Or maybe it was May
Could it be Mrs. C?
With Christmas half a year away ---
So I followed my nose
Down the road and up the street
I practically could taste it
That “Secret Santa” Treat ---
It led me to the kitchen
Of Orphelinat de la Lumiere
Orphanage of Light
And the Casserole of Care
Please, Mrs. C
Reveal the mystery
Your passion is contagious
Please identify yourself ---
Please, Mrs. C
With a heart fit for the King
May your name live through the ages
As more than a culinary elf ---
One day, a long time ago
They say it just arrived as
Mrs. Claus’s casserole
Nobody ever came for the dish
Now they all hang in the vestibule
Each one a Christmas Wish ---
