A fun story about a trip down south
Based on a trip to Alabama and a conversation with a guy in Tennessee along the way
VERSE
I was driving on the interstate
65, making good time
Through the Bluegrass State
Heading on down South to Alabam
When I had to take me a dinner break
Well, a big ole man shook me by the hand
And said "Son, where do you come from?"
I said, "not that it matters
But I'm from Cincinnati"
And this is what he said, my friend...
CHORUS
Long haired hippies
Come from Mississippi
Yankees come from Maine
People from the Midwest
Think they're the best
But I just think they're a pain
You can travel this land
From coast to coast
And see what you can see
But as for me
I'd rather be in Tennessee
VERSE
I finished my journey
In no big hurry
And turned to head north again
Birmingham, Gadsden
Had to see the mountains
And all my hillbilly friends.
Well wouldn't you know
That a man named Joe
Or maybe it was Bubba or Ned
Noticed my plates were from outta state
And this is what he said...
CHORUS
VERSE
In no time flat
I found myself looking at
A group, it must have been thirty
Each one bigger and stronger and taller
With a bald guy they called Curly.
Curly said, "friend, I don't know where you've been
But I know where you is"
I said, "Curly, I’ve seen this great big country
And I can promise you this"...
CHORUS
