Lyrics
[08-07-07] Last year, Canada saw more than 11,000 americans leave the land of the free, for the dominion sea to sea. And not just for summer vacation. The number of U.S. citizens who moved to Canada last year hit a 30-year high, with a 20 percent increase over the previous year and almost double the number who moved in 2000 Summer vacation could not have come fast enough for members in Congress. With each passing day, the Democrats in congress seem to peel back another layer of crooked deals, lying politicians and a President hell-bent on dismantling each and every entitlement that Constitution use to offer. From utter defiance to a complete lack of oversight, this country has pissed away a 200 billion dollar surplus, plunging endlessly into a war that tops a trillion dollars. The man in charge of enforcing the nations laws continually lies to courts, judges, bibles and anything else that apparently hates freedom. While even interesting lives don’t necessarily make a good movie, the fetes performed by this administration are short of preposterous, with more big screen action scenes with each preceding month. But one last crucial vote for the summer was all Congress had to do, to pack up the car for the cabin. At stake? The new improved version of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. No, not the one where the entire Justice Department threatened to resign over it’s constitutionality. That Surveillance Program was never approved by the Justice Department. No, this surveillance program actually allows the government to wiretap without notification of anybody yes anybody, out side the US. Whereas, once upon a time it had to be Al Qaeda connected, now it’s just anybody. With each preposterous dagger into the heart of civil liberties, the Democrats in Congress must be boiling over with anger and frustration, just clenching their teeth with anticipation, for a chance to make a difference. An Attorney General who continually lies to his own judicial system; a president whose idea of leadership is to talk to the nation as if we were 12; and a congress that hasn’t had the chance to show its true colors, of red white and blue. So the day arrived. One more vote and it’s off to the cabin with the kids in the wagon. Each vote is systematically tallied. And the dirtied Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act is resoundly….passed. Nice work Congress! This’ll go far in explaining why 52 million Americans should vote for another dummy, who chokes when it’s his time lay down a simple bunt. Even broken records aren’t this maddening, and at least they have a reason to repeat the same shameful result, over and over… And what isn’t so shameful are the Republicans who really have nothing to lose when marching in lockstep with their party. But how sad and telling is it when a Democrat shames everyone else for the atrocities of this current administration but doesn’t have the balls to stand up for the platform they were elected upon. When Amy Klobuchar sides with a President who thinks listening to everyone’s phone calls in the name of security is folksy, on a surveillance program even John Ashcroft knew went too far, it may be time to join the Bush dodgers crossing to the north.
