Story behind the song
"Kabuki (Oriental Funk)" was an experimental jam recorded 'half-live' (Basic Rhythm, Bass and First Keyboards---LIVE, into the tape recorder mic/Second Keyboard--dubbed in) in December of 1982. One of the EARLIEST Surviving Stereo Masters I have. Most of the sessions for "The Scarlet Rains Of Galaxia Minor"--technically a Double-Cassette Album--are in Stereo, and partially recorded LIVE. The sessions lasted from November 1982, until March 1983---- lots of LONG Experimental Tracks. At only 8 minutes-and-some-pocket change, "Kabuki" is relatively SHORT. There is, though, the closing track on the album, "Strange Chambers", which is 18 minutes of Bass Guitar experimentation. That's coming later.
