[06-26-07] Ever wonder why we’re suddenly talking about immigration? Evolution? Gay marriage? How about stem cell research? I mean, have you ever wondered why these arguments have manifested into red-faced eye-bulging spats in the name of democracy? And, why have these issues exploded into the forefront of immediacy!? Perhaps these are the social conundrums, testing the standards our forefathers had intended, which require the swiftest of solutions. …or it could just be wedge issues. Wedge issues by definition, are social or political issues, used by one or both political parties to divide, or wedge, in the others’ political voter base. Think semantics with flash cards. But even the hopeful constituents can grasp the disconnect of this government, born of the people, by the people, for the people. Unfortunately, it is not. Wedge Issues are about one thing: disruption. Support the Troops? How about starting with your integrity and we’ll talk about how peer pressure made you send 4,000 kids to their demise. Do you really think Illegal Immigration is the most immediate threat to national security? Why, and more importantly, what recent event indicates this? [audio] From the architect of Wedge Issues himself, come a full steamer of flat out lies. All nineteen 9/11 hijackers were aboard the flights legally, and were entering the country legally. More so, half of all immigrants here in the United States illegally, originally arrived on legal visas, so a 2000 mile wall is already in their rear view mirror. This is a sham. Worse, it’s a sham in the name of Democracy. If The Constitution were the Bible, the politicians would have been thrown out of the Capital a long time ago. If I hear one more presidential hopeful bona fiding the stem cell of an embryo THEY KNOW will never grow up to be a cowboy, then I might just reconsider Pat Paulsen as my write-in. Evolution: How bout God created evolution. Nothing terminates a wedge issue like a solution that appeases everyone. It’s no wonder this Presidency has the lowest ratings in history, and even less of a marvel that this Congress a half a gaff away from joining him. But the White House has something Congress hasn’t and probably can’t. Sure, they’ve drained our resources, spent our savings and started, continued and lost terribly an unnecessary war, but they did win two terms by perfecting the playbook on wedge issues.
