The lyrics, still being written, tell the story of the death of young maiden the night before her wedding in Corinth, a debauched seaport town. The death of this virgin, the one chaste woman, is tragic. Yet there is always hope; an acanthus flower grows from her grave, encircling a basket of her girlish keepsakes left by her grieving nursemaid and becomes the model of the Corinthian Capital. From death: rebirth, the synthesis of life and death, the sun and moon, night and day, the East and West....man and woman.
