For Almanac lovers around the world, it is officially Whistleblower Week in Wash. DC, according to the Government Accountability Project.
And what better way to honor the gall of even the most sordid bodies than to observe a typical day in the life of a modern day politician, and the trail of utter deceit, with the machination of a choreographed button-hook.
We’ll start with today, the second in command at the justice Department, resigned. Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty has become the highest ranking administration official to fall, from the Attorney Firing scandal.
McNulty testified last month, that at least one of the fired prosecutors was ordered to make way for a Karl Rove protégé. Now, protégés come from a number of different places, namely Law Universities like Duke or Georgetown, or in this case, Regent University, the Pat Robertson School of Law, started a mere 29 years ago, whose students passed the Bar exam only 37% of the time their first try.
But 37% is not astounding, what is, is that in (6) years Pat Robertson, somehow, has been able to place 150 graduates within the Bush Administration. At least that’s what their web site said April 12th …April 13th for some odd reason, they yanked it off their Home Page. Not sure who was more embarrassed, Bush? Or Robertson!
But at least one alumni made it all the way to the top. Monica Goodling. Even the name says impeachable offense. Goodling was a top Dept of Justice aide, who became the Grim Reaper of disobedient Bushies.
After pleading the 5th a judge has ordered her to testify with complete immunity, about who said What, Where and When and more importantly Why.
Such a simple explanation, could be lead to an unprecedented moment in this country’s last (6) years, with the very real possibility of impeachment of not only Cheney & Bush, but where all roads lead to, as well, Karl Rove.
However, the irony of this Monica-gate is that with this Monica-mouth, it will be the Chief Executives who will be getting the shaft this time.
