Story behind the song
A song about total commitment, the essence of a successful relationship. When a partnership is developing there comes a time for the big step up from see-how-it-goes to all-or-nothing, and we take a big risk in making ourselves vulnerable to emotional damage.
Musically, it was an attempt to use a reggae rhythm in conjunction with more sophisticated chord progressions, imagining Steely Dan and the Wailers working together.
