Story behind the song
This song refers to some past relationships and partners and my decidedly divided perspective on love. Some people have said it's negative. They don't get it. It's meant to describe how love can be so many different things, both positive and negative. Fortunately, I'm now in a very positive relationship... but I still don't want to write any sappy, sugar-coated love songs.
