Story behind the song
The Jubilee 2002 was the inspiration and also David Icke's reptile conspiracy theory. It was recorded in Alex Cable's Raven studios in Camberley, where I was backed by a new girl group called The Somethings. We had met at a gig I was playing at the West End Centre, Aldershot and they became my fans. I inspired them to put a band together and they said they would love to support me. I said we could go one better and they could back me on a recording. I live over 100 miles away from them so it was difficult to rehearse and we only had one in one of the girl's houses. So it was very much a rushed job and very in the DIY spirit of punk rock!
Lyrics
The Queen's a reptile David Icke said so So maybe the Pistols got it right Maybe they were fighting the good fight It's the year 2 on twenty twenty zero Johnny Rotten's still my hero. That she's not human is something Johnny said Diana called the family lizards And that's something that I read It's the year...etc The Pistols got to number 1 But from the charts they were deleted So much for freedom and democracy But punk won't be defeated It's the year 2 on twenty twenty zero Johnny Rotten's still my hero We're the Somethings and we've got it all planned We don't care if we get banned!
