A last minute addition to the album. The original version of Birthmarks took us forever to record--this version took approximately fifteen minutes, haha. It's a nice bonus that closes out the album in a sweet way, check it out.

Nerds While AZN (NWA) was originally an idea thrown around as a joke, something that would never fully become a reality. However, thanks to a little ingenuity, a few instrumentals, and two or three microphones, NWA became a reality on September 15, 2004, with the track "NWA Anthem," a song that shocked the hell out of everybody who originally expected something sucky (only to receive something godly). Originally, NWA was planned as starring Jeff King (DMK), Jun Xiang (Jam Master Jun), and an unnamed third party who has since been incarcerated for selling bootleg textbooks (we love you, Zhen). Jeremy Blum (Blummer) ended up taking the reigns as the third member of the group, however, mainly because he was the only one at the time who knew how to put the tracks together. In the end, Nerds While AZN transformed into much more than a simple joke and quickly became a serious undertaking. The group has gone on to release track after track, combining inspirational raps about everyday life with hard-hitting beats, occasionally with guest appearances from anyone who wants to jump in. Nerds While AZN is: DMK (Jeff King) Long regarded as an inspiring example of innate goodness, as well as the originator of the intense "Nerd Pride" revolution of 2003-2004, Jeff King surprised the world by assuming his DMK (Dark Man King) persona for the first NWA track, "NWA Anthem." He has since become widely known for his passionate rapping style (which usually involves yelling himself hoarse over a beat) and powerful, emotional solo songs such as "The Heart's Reality" and "Final Fantasy." Jam Master Jun (Jun Xiang) Originally reluctant to join the group (because he thought he was too cool or something) Jun changed his mind after "NWA Anthem" came out. Making his first appearance on the "Match The Nerds With The Voice" track, Jun brought with him influence from famous mainstream emcees as well as a distinct rapping voice, often considered to be a bridge between DMK's yelling and Blummer's softer style. Aside from writing good hooks, Jun has also been the star of many of the most popular tracks in NWA history. Blummer (Jeremy Blum) JB is one of the originators of the Nerds While AZN concept, the third member of the group, and the resident producer of almost every NWA track (he basically does a lot of stuff). He has become known for his soft yet distinct rapping style which often utilizes multiple bars ending with the same rhyme. As the group producer, Blummer loops instrumentals and edits vocals to create the unique NWA sound. He also maintains the NWA website and has gone on to produce three solo mixtapes of his own: "Gaiden," "Bushido," and "Densetsu." So that's NWA. And yes, we know we aren't the first group to use that acronym--this originally started out as a joke, remember? Anyway, if you didn't know who we were before, now you do.

Nerds While AZN - Birthmarks (Remix) (Blummer) suburban slabs of concrete, they're all passin' me by as i stare out this bus window from the corner of my eye i'm tryin' to comprehend, i got a verse on my mind etching it out on my palm as a way to unwind and if i wrote a little more it'd run up my arm over birthmarks that been there for oh so long like Eminem in 8 Mile, i'm just tryin' to find an end to the cypher of rhymes i'm feelin' inside times have been hard, i been walkin' with a shuffle bags under my eyes, fingers graspin' my belt buckle this educational rigor has got my patience livin' off an hour of sleep, i cannot take this and my pockets stay empty, cash flow is nill i'm starin' at kicks i can't cop on the store windowsill temples are burning, need medication soon knuckles black from busting walls the previous afternoon frustration on my face, i need a change i wish i had company to help me feel less strange but flirtacious feminism just ain't what it seems promiscuity leaves you played, i fell in love with a dream and yet i'm guilty, i wonder if my struggles are worth jack compared to those who live under glock shadows and white crack can't help it, wishing for better times tears touching a park bench, sittin' in the grime these marks on my body are startin' to feel numb they show where i've been and where i'm comin' from as the days end, new scar tissue appears mingling with the marks, showing the passing years these birthmarks on my body, they're startin' to burn these cold nights all alone are makin' me yearn hiding my face with a hoodie, see what i've become feel my map of scars, hear the beat of my heart's drum (Jam Master Jun) all alone again with paper and pen got a lot to say but don't know where to begin guess i'll just say whatever comes to mind and find the source of my mind through the force of the rhyme my birth was seared with the curse of fear but i willed myself, never burst with tears but when the curse was near and the worst was here all the vows that i made, disappeared i found my fears sound, pound, and drowned my mind, 'till my head spun round and round bound for a world flipped upside down where the sounds of nightmares abound and surround spent a long time on the outside, lookin' in, hopin' someone would get careless and just leave the door open and finally it happened, i got to step inside but as i walked into the door, my visions of it died my dreams were fashioned from the stories found in book pleasant nights thinking 'bout how regal i would look with armor and crest emblazoned across the chest who needs the real world? fiction was the best but fiction never lasts long, dreams will die while the world unblinking, unflinching marches by how much human pathos intimated with a sigh? why'd they have to tell me "ever after" was a lie? if you're thrown in a whirlpool you learn to swim fast i was thrown in the world, learned nostalgia for the past cause dreams'll never last, hopes'll never come to pass life was like a brick, my dreams were panes of glass i'm not really bitter, just embittered with the taste of what i had and i'm just sad for what i threw away but it's not bad and i'm still glad for what i have today and i'm not mad cause i still laugh and everything's okay (DMK) now let me take you down to Cherry Hill let me take you down to Cherry Hill let me take you down to Cherry Hill it ain't the ghetto or the city but still this is my home, street's Longstone, where I've grown from the new kid to holdin' my own with a preacher's flow hard work's good livin', success is a given but what's it take here to make a driven difference? two blocks down the court, Iverson uniforms no gangs, twenty hands, reaching out to form a friendly game a shot rings out, released by familiar names stealing hits on the block, but the friends never fade away back to school, scholars everywhere, filled with knowledge, off to
