Story behind the song
This song is one that I have had the lyrics written for ages, I recorded it a couple of times, and never was satisfied with either the melody, or the recording. I then rearranged it, simplified the whole structure, and I think it works better now. Time passes fast my friend, and the older we get the faster it passes. What I was thinking when I wrote this, was that material life does have a tendency to crush the creative and joyful spirtual side of our selves, that is where real pleasure is found, and as time passes I realise that more with every passing day.
Lyrics
Let It Shine. There is a common thread, that binds us all, Woven through the tapestry of everybody’s lives. It’s part of life itself, it’s just our fragility, We all know it’s true, we all know were gonna get the call. So what do we do, how do we carry on? Through good and bad times, through midwinter’s rain. We struggle through, share laughter when we can, Only pray to God to help us, when we feel the pain. Let it shine, let your spirit fly, In days of joy sublime, through dark nights when we cry. Let it shine, life passes fast my friend, Waste not a moment, for all moments quickly end. Solo. We watch the sun set, and see it rise again, Another day, another chapter in our lives. Seasons change, spring and summer pass away, We turn around, autumns gone and winter arrives. Let it shine, let your spirit fly, In days of joy sublime, through dark nights when we cry. Let it shine, life passes fast my friend, Waste not a moment, for all moments quickly end.
