Story behind the song
I have a similair song about how I'm a strong woman and I'm following my dreams, and I knew I wanted to write a song (a full song) dedicated to my mama and I just thought it was important to point out how strong she was to come out of all the situations she'd been through.
Lyrics
You know a lot of women go through stuff in they life, but none like what my mamma been through. She the strongest woman I know I don’t know what you been told in your lifetime But you been through more stuff than people by the time they fifty nine Now I been told the stuff you did was outta line. But if I want to judge you that choice is mine Can’t really understand why people got sh** to say They can’t really know ‘cause they ain’t walked that way. How many people can say they kids was snatched away from them That they was homeless on the street beggin food to give to them I don’t think so, Now all y’all haters can blow If y’all got somethin’ to say you need to let me know I swear to god we can take this outside and we can go Can’t stand when people make me feel like my mom is less But mom your heart is my bullet proof vest Can’t nothin’ get to me, I know who you are I saw for myself and together we’ll go far Mama you’re the strongest woman I know Because you did everything possible a woman could do Mama you’re the strongest woman I know Because I see you still standin’ after everything you been through When I look at you I see past the fire, bonds and rags I know your past I know what you been through wit ya dad I know your childhood was rough and leaving was bad I kinda see myself in you and it scares me a bit Only ‘cause I know you went through hardships and some fits Ya burned my daddy’s clothes, here this story goes Messed up wit some money and was runnin’ on your toes Went through abusive husbands that had you bleedin’ red Had a time when you didn’t have a roof over your head Was livin’ pretty low could’ve been left for dead But in my eyes right now you a strong black queen ‘Cause you been through that and more and you still on your feet You met up wit me you cater my every need You like the top of my list, my number one girl Strongest person, richest person, most beautiful in the world Mama you’re the strongest woman I know Because you did everything possible a woman could do Mama you’re the strongest woman I know Because I see you still standin’ after everything you been through You really made it by Got a daughter who’s fly Found yourself the right man and you know he’s fine First Clark, Christopher and now you Mrs. Black And I trust in God that you’ll get your son back Mr. John Lee Bray man our mama made a way Don’t ever let no one tell you this woman is a fake Yeah we both know that she made some mistakes But she still goin’ and that’s how winners play Now I can put it all behind me or let the past bind me I hope you ain’t got no grudge ‘cause our mama loves us much Now we let it go to dust, it’s the past don’t have to fuss Mama you’re the strongest woman I know Because you did everything possible a woman could do Mama you’re the strongest woman I know Because I see you still standin’ after everything you been through
