Written as a suprise for a newly-retired secretary.
The lyrics of this song were written by my quartet-mate Robbie Brunger in honor of his wife Sarah's retirement party. Unfortunately, the recording of said party didn't turn out all that great, so I took the liberty of recording all the parts myself until a suitable recording could be made. Note: the bass voice has been digitally altered because I couldn't sing the low notes. Haha, use your imagination!
Last week at the office, things were doing just fine;
The phone calls all got answered, and the mail went out on time,
The workroom was well organized, the files ordered A-Z,
And down the hall the restrooms never ran out of TP.
But this week, things have changed, theres a different atmosphere,
The heart and soul of the office is no longer here!
But whatever happened to that good old "What's-Her-Name?"
Did she acquire fortune, or did she acquire fame?
Her work here now is finished, and now she is moving on,
And all we can remember is it was a lot of fun,
But whatever happened to that good old "What's-Her-Name?"
I wonder what she's doing in her new retirement ease,
Perhaps she'll take a luxury cruise upon the seven seas,
Or maybe she'll become some sort of community volunteer,
Or maybe she'll watch soap operas and drink a lot of beer!
I guess we must be patient, we shall see what we shall see.
Now that she has become an R-E-T-I-R-Double-E!
Chorus:
Where is my good old "What's-Her-Name?"
Margaritte, Becky, or Sharon, or Joan,
Where is the lady who answers the phone?
Where is that good old "What's-Her-Name?"
