I Wish I Knew You
The air was filled with the smoky haze of a new day
We are a small band of soldiers walking the streets of Baghdad
The people star at me in wonder and curiosity
If I could speak their way I believe I’d say
Chorus: I wish I knew you way back when
Who Knows
We could have been friends
I wish I had seen your face before
Some where other then this bloody war
I wish I knew you way back when
The peaceful afternoon is shattered by the sound
Of a rain of bullets
One by one our targets hit the ground
One has escaped so I take chase through an alley
Until he looked back at me
I stopped and let him be
I shook my head and said
Chorus: I wish I knew you way back when
Who knows
We could have been friends
If I had seen your face somewhere before
Somewhere other then this bloody war
I wish I knew you way back when
Who knows
We could have been friends
But time never lingers long
And the chance has gone
I wish I knew you way back when
