Sometimes the rain can be a comfort, just like an old friend.
Like An Old Friend
Well I’m flat broke and busted, downright disgusted,
That woman’s made a fool out of me.
She said I was no good, never loved her like I should,
So she up and walked out on me.
It was four in the morning, it came without warning,
Her leaving took me by surprise.
As I watched from a distance I gave no resistance,
She just smiled without saying goodbye.
(chorus)
Well the rain hid the pain and the tears in my eyes,
Washing away the dreams and the lies.
Thank God for the rain falling down on me.
Just like an old friend put his arm around me.
Now I’m standing here holding my head in my hands’
Feeling so lost and alone.
My hearts’ filled with sorrow no escape from tomorrow,
Wondering how I’ll ever go on.
(Repeat chorus)
Now I’m looking for answers to the questions I have.
I’m looking for what I can do.
I’ve got a handful of reasons and I’m not really sure,
What it was that made you untrue.
(repeat chorus)
