Eat Sum Food is an upbeat and lively tune with a strong reggae back beat. In his own words, Smokey expresses his feelings about spending two long and unproductive years in Las Vegas.
Leaving popularity and a steady stream of gigs behind in Jamaica, Smokey moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Unfortunately local agents didn't know what to make of him and they billed him as a calypso novelty act. Gigs were hard to come by and Smokey spent two long years performing at poolside parties and corporate events at most of the major hotels on the Las Vegas Strip, when he could get them. He wrote Eat Sum Food to describe his feelings about this episode in his life and to remind us of the plight of others. He relates his own experience to the struggle many poverty stricken people suffer all over the world.
