Story behind the song
LOTR has a very dark feeling to the story. Well I wanted a song that was light-hearted and interactive with the audience for Memories of Middle Earth. So I turned to the first few pages of Fellowship of the Ring. There, Bilbo Baggins and Frodo Baggins celebrate Bilbo's eleventy-first and Frodo's thirty-third birthday. During this grand celebration of 144 guests (one gross), Bilbo gives a speech, addressing his family and friends before disappearing from The Shire in a grand, unforgettable manner.
Lyrics
I'd like to thank you all my friends for coming here today It's a testament to our friendship and I'd really love to stay But now at last the time is near, the sun is fadin low. I hope to see you soon again, but now it's time to go. Now it's time to go, [clap] Now it's time to go, [clap, clap] I hope to see you soon my friends, but now it's time to go! [clap] Dear Bagginses n'Boffins, Grubbs n'Chubbs, Burrowses and Tooks, Bracegirdles, Bolgers, Goodbodies, Hornblowers, Brockhouses n'Goodfoots [Goodfeet] And a humble thanks to those I missed, my intent is not to do so. For your friendship each is a blessed thing, but not it's time to go. Now it's time to go, [clap] Now it's time to go, [clap, clap] For your friendship each is a blessed thing, but now it's time to go! [clap] On the twenty-second of September, I'll always recollect. And Frodo too with all of you makes a Gross of my select. Hobbits and friends and Gandalf too with a wonderful firework show. One last regret I'll share with you is now it's time to go. Now it's time to go, [clap] Now it's time to go, [clap, clap] One last regret I'll share with you Is now it's time to go! [clap] Now it's time to go, [clap] Now it's time to go, [clap, clap] I hope to see you soon my friends, but now it's time to go! [clap]
