Story behind the song
This song came from the many trips to the Adirondacks where we would spend a week to ten days in canoes on the water and enjoying the mountains surroundings.
Lyrics
Well it’s been many years since I traveled up north Where we set out on the lake in the early hours of dawn Well the waters so clear there and the air it is too But what I remember is the light of the moon Blue mountain moon so high in the sky Lights up the islands as the clouds drift on by It’s not far away but it takes me back years To an earlier time when life was so pure Time is your enemy as the years slip away The seasons they change and start feeling like days Well I gotta go back and get that feeling once more The hourglass of life will end that’s for sure Blue mountain moon so high in the sky Lights up the islands as the clouds drift on by It’s not far away but it takes me back years To an earlier time when life was so pure See it so clearly like yesterday Road through the town down by the bay How the mountain it rose through the fog on that day I wanna go back to those yesterday’s Blue Mountain moon Well it’s been many years since I traveled up north Where we set out on the lake in the early hours of dawn Well the waters was clear there and the air it was too But what I remember is the light of the moon
