For a change, some full-tackle-out, good-time, country rock
songwriter
Humble Country Songwriter.
Just a humble songwriter. First and foremost, a Tune-smith, I suppose. Yes, somehow, melodies just pop into my head, from, like, nowhere, man! Of course, to turn a melody into an actual song, it has to have a set of lyrics - but lyric-writing, for me, is more like "work". Contrast that with composing a melody - man, its such a buzz when you think you've come up with a half-decent new tune.

Story behind the song
There's certain places where you get a really good feeling from both the people who hang out there and from the stuff hanging on the walls. Another track where the vocal was laid down in just the one take ... just like it should be - right from the heart!
Lyrics
The Greats of Country I got some money in my pocket Like a Bud – I know they stock it So I’m going down to Danny’s for a beer It’s where some mighty stars have fallen Get the geetar off the wall an’ Resurrect ‘em like as if they were still here Don’t shed no tear – just drink your beer I feel it here – ‘cause they’re so near Chorus The Greats of Country Can never die It’s rudimentary To you and I Well, I believe in Lord & spirit Play some more, I need to hear it Need to hear it like we all did way back when You know them words they were so movin’ And those guitar licks were groovin’ They can’t write ‘em now like they all did back then Well in the end – you’ll soon depend They re-offend – but in the end Chorus We’re talkin’ good ol’ country music You be careful how you choose it If they can’t oblige you, try another bar There ain’t no crime in reminiscing Though some heroes may be missing There’s a legacy that shines out like a star They’re never far – here in this bar Play that guitar – like you’re a star Chorus
