I was just improvising on the keyboard when I played a few things I quite liked, which inspired me. I decided I wanted the composition’s style to be Euro – Pop. Since childhood I have always wondered about what it would be like to use Morse Code either as the rhythm section of a composition, or just simple words as a ‘hidden message’ in songs. So I decided to try it out. Back in my childhood I thought it would be an original idea to use morse code in songs, but later I have found out that Kraftwerk have done the same.
In the break-down section there’s Morse code played by a high pitch sound ‘saying’ T-I-M-E, T-I-M-E, T-I-M-E-A. First I wanted to morse the title of the song (TIME To Say Goodbye), but then I realized it would have been too long and wouldn’t fit with the rhythm section properly, so I’ve put my name (TIMEA) at the end instead, because it only differs by one letter from the word TIME. After I’ve finished composing the song I wrote some lyrics and a melody line over the top and improvised the harmony parts when recording.
