This song was written as an honest questioning of the person who sexually abused me as a child. It was my "angry" song - one that was needed in my healing journey.
What did you think - did you think it was free?
Was I just your possession, to have and to bleed.
Did you think I'd forget? Too small to remember -
voice silenced by fear, in weakness surrendered.
(CHORUS)
Did you think, did you think? What on earth, what on earth, were you thinking of? Were you thinking of...
Did you think you were free, free and clear in your crime?
Well you'll never be free, when you're cursed in your mind.
Did you think I would love you, forgive and forget?
But forgiveness is cheapened, by your self-indulged regret.
Did you think that your tears, would soften my heart?
But your tears mean nothing - when you won't admit your part.
Did you think that I owed you, and by duty was bound?
But you're the one in chains now, when in time truth is found.
