Coming back to the jazz style of Venemous Eye, this incorporates more of a big band feel. This one is again influenced by Barry Adamson, but there's another influence in there that I haven't quite worked out yet!
This is written from the perspective of a man hiding in his bathroom from the police outside. As he tries to wash away the evidence, he draws parallels with Shakespeare.
I'm the Lady MacBeth of the shower,
I just can't get the blood off my skin.
They've been kicking the door for hours,
But I don't think I'll let them in.
I'm the Othello of the bathroom,
The black within the white.
They want to take my kingdom
They want to put out the light.
But ooooooh, oooooh,
Shakespeare has got nothing on
The things that I have gone and done
To you.
I'm the Lady MacBeth of the shower,
The spots they go through and through
They've been kicking that door for hours,
I guess they must have found you.
I'm the Antony of the lavatory,
But I drowned my Cleo instead.
Those snakes would circle 'round the throne
Of the Caesar in my head.
But ooooooh, oooooh,
Shakespeare has got nothing on
The things that I have gone and done
To you.
I'm the Lady MacBeth of the shower,
That Banquo's taught me a lot.
He carried on though life was gone
Where I've just gone and stopped.
I'm sure Juliet would tell me that
Her Romeo's love was strong
But the shots that ring out through the cracks
Tell me I've just played it wrong.
But ooooooh, oooooh,
Shakespeare has got nothing on
The things that I have gone and done
To you.
