Story behind the song
Where I live, the Niagara Escarpment runs right through. Part of our city is built on top of the escarpment(which we call "The Mountain", which it really isn't, but that's a whole other story!!). It's aproximately 40 stories high(hence the song title). At the edge of the escarpment, there is a park that overlooks the lower city and the harbour/Lake Ontario. At night it is quite beautiful with all the lights. This song is about one night hanging up there with my beautiful wife, then girlfriend at the time. Whenever I write a song about my city I try to channel Tom Wilson, who I think writes the best love songs to Hamilton. He's my biggest influence when writing songs about "The Hammer"
