I used to teach guitar at a Junior College. I had this student named Mark Whiteside that attended Moody Bible in Chicago, IL. Mark and his roommate would memorize passages of the Bible by putting them to music. Also, he would turn Hymns into modern sounding tunes. So, one day he played "The Solid Rock" for me. Very cool. I said, come over to my studio and we'll work out an arrangement. Then I took it to the band and it even morphed more, added a rap, 4/4 time, etc... Enjoy!
Solid Rock
Edward Mote, William Bradbury
Arranged by DW and Mark Whiteside
Soft-steppin’ when you feel alone
Quicksand rising to the microphone
Flows take me home to the highest throne
Solid rock foundation is my cornerstone
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name
When darkness veils His lovely face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and every stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way
He then is all my hope and stay
When He shall come with trumpet sound
Oh may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne
