Christmas song. The story of Joseph, the father of Jesus
This is the first version of this theme written for the Fort Worth Songwriter's Association annual Christmas song contest. The bluegrass version won first place. This is an alternate version and was written first. there are some things I like better about it. I won't know for sure which one works the best until I do a professional demo of each. This was done on a simple 4 track Tascam portable recorder.
Joseph of Nazareth tell me your dream
How Mary the virgin delivers a king?
And how you will silence the voices of shame
And raise a young savior and give him your name
Joseph of Nazareth tell me your dream
How a young virgin will deliver a King
Joseph of Nazareth will you provide
Passage to Bethlehem for your new bride
She carries the hope of the world to this place
Vessel of innocence, mother of Grace
Joseph of Nazareth tell me your dream
How a village so humble will welcome a King
Joseph of Nazareth will you obey
Escape into Egypt and hide Him away
The soldiers of Herod have come to destroy
To slaughter the innocent babies and boys
Joseph of Nazareth tell me your dream
How you will shelter our Savior, our king
Joseph of Nazareth will you return
To your home in the hills where Jesus will learn
The trade of his Father, the Carpenter who
Builds oceans and forest and mountains …and you
Joseph of Nazareth, tell me your dream
How all of God’s people will
Soon praise the King
