Folk-Rock Classic Protest Music
I'm a solo recording artist, long-time songwriter, musician, and audio engineer, trying to use the power of music to raise awareness and inspire others to make a positive difference, with their life and through their Art. Over the past ten years or so, I have completed and self-released five solo albums, and am working on another one. My style is mostly Classic Protest Folk-Rock. I tend to address what I consider to be the larger themes of our existence, rather than writing from a first-person or fictional perspective, or writing about partying, fast cars, girls, etc. (of course, there is a place for those things, but there are plenty of songs like that already, yes?) Although I have worked with many "big names" and Grammy winners as a live-sound engineer, I write, play, and record all my original music by myself, for better or worse. Thanks for listening. (Audio engineer with over thirty years experience, has mixed FOH (Front of House) for such artists as: Jesse Colin Young, Randy Newman, Shawn Colvin, Commander Cody, B.B. King, Richie Havens, Arlo Guthrie, Leo Kotke, Chuck Mangione, Hal Ketchum, John Sebastian, Jim Messina, Charlie Musselwhite, Del McCoury, Michele Schocked, Michael Martin Murphy, Stanley Jordan, Kevin Cole, Tommy Emmanuel, Peter Cincotti, Leon Redbone, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Shemekia Copeland, Jackie Greene, Lisa Loeb, Karla Bonhoff, Crash Test Dummies, Poco, Dan Fogelberg, Edwin McCain, George Winston, CJ Chenier, Maia Sharp, David Grisman, Michael W. Lyrics
ARE YOU DOING ANYTHING? c 1995 Ed Billeaud Are you doing anything to try and save the world Lord, does it need saving Are you teaching the right things to all the boys and girls Teach them love instead of hating Are you squandering their legacy without giving any thought To the preciousness of living and the gifts which can't be bought Are you doing anything at all now to try and save this world? Are you doing anything to try and stop the killing Lord, does it need stopping We could banish deadly weapons now if only we were willing If taking life was still shocking But we kill things everyday, and we see films of it at night We say that killing's natural like that somehow makes it right Are you doing anything at all now to try and stop the killing? Are you doing anything, that's the question that I ask Each and every one of us must awaken to this task Are you doing anything at all now to try and save the world? Are you doing anything to help your fellow man Lord, do they need helping Are you doing anything for goodwill and understanding Or wasting your life getting wealthy? Do you sit there doing nothing while generals and politicians Dig a nuclear grave, and prepare to push us in it Are you doing anything at all now to help your fellow man? Are you doing anything?
