I was motivated to write this song when my neice found herself unmarried and pregnant. She had to humble herself and go home, not only to her parents, but to the God who she had once believed so strongly in. It is a song of redemption and Father love.
He said he'd love her forever - that nothing could pull them apart,
He told her he never would leave her - that forever she'd stolen his heart.
(CHORUS)
Now this child is having his baby - now his words they echo in her ears,
Her heart left broken in pieces - alone in her shame and her fear.
Afraid to tell them she'd failed them - that in blindness her trust was abused,
That ignoring their wisdom and teaching - she'd allowed herself to be used.
She remembers a love once so zealous - of a Saviour she once called her own,
Of a Father whose mercy unending - calls His erring children home.
(END CHORUS)
Now she's running to arms that adore her - His forgiveness only a prayer away,
She's running home to her Father - to a place where she's welcome to stay.
Yes, she's running home to her Father - it's a place where she's welcome to stay.
