This song kind of wrote itself after a phone call from a friend I hadn't talked to in a while. She was searching for answers. I simply pointed to someone else with better answers.
VERSE
I got a call a week ago
A girl I call a friend
She said she needed to talk awhile
And tell me about “him.”
A guy she met
They fell in love
She started to explain
Then tears began to fall
And I could tell she was in pain.
I said “I know you need a man
I have the Perfect One in mind
He’ll meet you where you are
And you can call him anytime.
CHORUS
Jesus, Jesus
Our savior and our friend
He’ll love you in your darkest days
And help you live again.
Jesus, Jesus
There’s power in His name
When two or more are gathered
We can do most anything.
Jesus, Jesus
He died to set us free
He broke the chains of death
So we can live eternally.
Jesus, Jesus
The only name to call
If we will just believe
He promised He would save us all.
VERSE
Around the office coffeepot
A group of eight or ten
Were gathered there to spread the news
Of Jenny and of Jim
It seems another marriage
Had begun to take a dive
Despite the couple’s best attempts
To keep this thing alive
I said “I know a counselor
He’s got a lifetime guarantee
And everyone can meet Him
When they’re down upon their knees.”
His name is:

VERSE
Another conversation
With another friend of mine.
He would have turned to Jesus
But he didn’t have the time.
It seems his busy life was moving
At a pace he couldn’t stop.
And certainly you would agree
You’d see him at the top.
But Jesus made the lame to walk
And gave the blind man sight
And only He can make a cold heart
Finally see the light.
