Story behind the song
As usual, there was no motivation, just an idea that sprang from nowhere. It all started with that simple sequence you hear at the beginning, everything else just kind of flowed on from there.
It took a while to come up with a title, despite some excellent suggestions from my friend Vienna, but in the end it reminded me of a magical train journey that I've never made. Whilst listening to it I got images of some of the train scenes from Doctor Zhivago, so I decided it had to be a) Russian and b) something to do with trains.
