This song is beautiful. It's a lullaby love song that could quite possibly bring you to tears
I wrote the first half of this song when I was 18 years old and love-stricken by someone who had no idea of my feelings. Years later, we ended up dating and I finished the lyrics and put them to music. It's the first and only song I've ever written in more than one sitting. Usually I sit down and write and don't get up until I've finished writing. That, and the three part harmony (all sung by me), is probably the biggest point of pride for me in this song.
When it's time to lay it all down
and leave it all behind
when it's time to spread out the map
come lay down with me
surfing through geography
reading about the violence in the news
it's time to lay it all down
I'll lay down with you
lay it all down
lay it all down
the armor of my heart has got to be so heavy
lay it all down
that weight
that weight that's on your shoulders
the heaving of your heart and the movement of your head
come
come lay down with me
there's no more guity conscience
just room for you to be
tonight is the night to set your heart free
come
come lay down with me
lay it all down
lay it all down
the armor of your heart has got to be so heavy
lay it all down
In the comfort of each other
and the lonesomeness that's over
come lay down with me
tonight is the night where we set our hearts free
