a multi-mood song with harp, cello, and other string sounds addressing the issue of self-injury from a personal view
This song came from a song I wrote before I even made the accompanying piano for it. I wrote this song to reveal my dark side, the shadow that mostly comes out at night. It was originally a voice/harp-sound song. After quite some time, I managed to turn it into a more interesting piece with contrasting textures and shifts of mood withing the song.
A disturbed girl with a broken soul
Tries so hard to contain herself
She has survived a long, treacherous fall
But now she can't stand her wretched emotional health
pre-chorus:
Baby is crying so hard
She tries to hold her poor body
But her wrist is all scarred
And she has it in her to destroy herself
chorus:
Blood on the skin
A shameless sin
The blade is a friend
In times like these where troubles have no end.
Going to school she covers her arm
With a wrist band or long sleeves
She doesn't want anyone to be alarmed
By the huge cut marks under that sleeve
(pre-chorus)
I want to fight, but I can't seem to hold on
I want to stop this habit, but I can't
I'm lonely, broken, and depressed
I've had enough of all my endless rants
I know I like the darkness
But light, please come to save me from it!
(chorus)
