Story behind the song
After hearing a series of stories about priorities and how men have walked away from their responsibilities to their kids, this was the song that came out. It simply says it's time to get back to what really matters.
Lyrics
VERSE Saturday, it's five o'clock I'm on my second coffee cup It's black, just like the morning sky outside. I kiss the kids then I'm out the door I've done my work but there's always more I ain't gettin' rich no matter how I try. Drivin' to the office I think about my Dad And how his work came first before The times we could have had As I think about the moments lost I stop and turn the truck I think I might just make it back As the kids are wakin' up. CHORUS I think it's time For them to see That their number one fan In this whole wide world is me. It's Daddy Time And time to know That I'm the one to be there No matter where they go. I think it's time for me to be The dad they really need I think it's time Daddy Time. VERSE We pack a lunch and fishing poles Some ice to keep the sodas cold Then we're off to find a swimmin' hole To call our very own. Before we know the sun is gone The good times never last that long And we're climbin' in To make our way back home. With the rhythm of the highway I hear them breathing deep I wonder what they're dreamin' As they smile in their sleep. And I make a resolution That this trip won't be the last The kids are gettin' older Yeah, they're growing up too fast CHORUS BRIDGE My kids will never know how much I truly care If they never see me, 'cause I'm never there. CHORUS
