I’m Gone
© 2006 by Clint Anglin
I’m the loneliest man in town
Since my baby threw me down -
So far down, I’m underground.
Now I’ll just say a last goodbye
To the one that made me cry,
And get the next train and ride.
I’m gone, Lord I’m gone ,
Yeah I’m gone, sure as hell I’m gone;
I’m leaving here - won’t be back no more.
She said, “Don’t come ‘round no more,
Don’t want you knockin’ on my door.”
Then threw my heart down on the floor.
It don’t matter where I go,
Kalamazoo or Buffalo,
Maybe even old Mexico.
I’m gone, Lord I’m gone ,
Yeah I’m gone, sure as hell I’m gone;
I’m leaving here - won’t be back no more.
I’m walkin’ down this dusty road,
With my heart – it’s such a heavy load,
And this hurt deep down in my soul.
One of these days the sun will rise,
Morning will beam into my eyes,
Tender love take me by surprise.
For now I’m gone,Lord I’m gone,
Yeah I’m gone, sure as hell I’m gone;
I’m leaving here – never come back no more.
