THE DARKER SIDE OF COUNTRY
This is one that I wrote about a woman who uses a Hurricane to cover her tracks
She picked up the phone and called the greyhound line. The seven thirty's leaving right on time. She looks around at what she's leaving behind. She don't see a thing to make her change her mind.....................When she got married she was seventeen. The kind of girl they don't make homecoming queens. They left that town with their teenage dreams, and finally broke down outside of New Orleans..............She found a job in some dingey dive. Tips and tricks kept them both alive. He got drunk almost every night. And everyone could see that she lost every fight......... And that aint right...............The Mississippi River's wide.........And Ponchertrain is rising high...........A hurricane don't need no alibi's..............She pulled that trigger and ran to the night......... (repeat chorus).................She picked up the phone and dialed the greyhound line.........Wiped off her prints and dissapeared in the night.
