On January 11, 2005 My oldest friend passed away at age 29. This song was meant for his family and friends, they have requested that everyone can hear it. Like Taggin, this was recorded in a horse trailer (I cant wait till studio is finished)
Looking to the sky and I get this thought
Is it mine to give or is this soul bought
This life I lead is it right or wrong
Does it really matter when we’re dead and gone
Too many mysteries the question’s arose
Bout the stars, the earth, and this path I chose
The good I do now, does it make it all right
Make up for the evil that I did with my life
The roads I have walked down, others would not cross
And I’ve paid my dues, so now I’m the boss
I run the streets by night, and I sleep all day
It’s getting heavy, drop my knees, I should pray
And ask for forgiveness, for all of my sins
The list is so long, don’t know where to begin
From the day I born, it seems I been cursed
Instead of getting better, I’ve just gotten worse
Is there life after death
Is there heaven above
Are there gates that’ll open
Or are they rusted closed
Is there life after death
Is there heaven above
Are there gates that’ll open
Or are they rusted closed
C-Dog was here, yeah, but now he’s gone
Seems like yesterday, but it’s been so long
Ain’t no way to shoot the shit, no more till dawn
There’s not too much left, but this hole in my heart
And now that he is gone, the world don’t seem right
Though we missing you, we got to keep up the fight
Make ourselves a name, and we bring yours along
Know you’re in our hearts cuz I wrote you this song
When we think about life, and the things left undone
Though you finished some, you were chosen as the one
You had to go away, had to leave us alone
To follow on this journey, down the path that we chose
We know that you are here, in our hearts and our minds
Lookin down from above, you will guide us through life
And knowing that you’ll be there, when our days end
To open up heaven, when we come to you again
Is there life after death
Is there heaven above
Are there gates that’ll open
Or are they rusted closed
Is there life after death
Is there heaven above
Are there gates that’ll open
Or are they rusted closed
This song I have written, for all loved ones passed
Our family, our friends, our brothers to the end
Though we miss you much, we know you’re not alone
We wish that you were here, just for us to hold
You all know about it, yeah, I miss my friend
With all the memories, he’s still in my head
We all go away, that’s the cycle of life
But in the end we’re left with, only what’s right
Who am I to judge, what’s right and what’s wrong
Will it make it better, the words in this song?
Or will it make it worse, and bring back the tears
The tears will always be there, every single year
You can hear a song, have a distant memory
First you laugh, then cry, remember how it be
When our day comes, we will meet our friends
For then it is beginning, left behind the end.
Is there life after death
Is there heaven above
Are there gates that’ll open
Or are they rusted closed
Is there life after death
Is there heaven above
Are there gates that’ll open
Or are they rusted closed
Is there life after death
Is there heaven above
Are there gates that’ll open
Or are they rusted closed
Is there life after death
Is there heaven above
Are there gates that’ll open
Or are they rusted closed
