I wrote this song on Monday morning, after watching the news on television...some of the items are, unfortunately, true.
Seems like everyone wants to be famous, these days, and it doesn't matter what kind of fame they achieve, as long as they are famous...
You'll Remember Me
These days
Some folks will do most anything for fame.
It seems
They treat life like its all just one big game.
It don't matter who they hurt
Or what the consequence
As long as there's a video camera
Tapin' the events
You'll see them smilin' on the TV news
As we all take a little more abuse...
You'll remember me.
I'm the guy on your TV
You saw me with my pistol
As I robbed the Mini-Mart.
I did it for a laugh,
No you can't have my autograph
I'm doin' five to life,
And I broke my Mama's heart.
Last week,
As I was watchin' football on TV
Some guy
Jumped on the field as naked as could be.
He ran as fast as he could run
They finally tackled him
I hope he likes it better runnin'
In the prison gym.
He left behind a wife and two small kids.
They'll suffer for the stupid thing he did.
You'll remember me.
I'm the guy on your TV
You saw me with my weiner out
As I ran across the field.
I did it for a laugh,
No you can't have my autograph
I'm doin' five to life,
And I broke my baby's heart.
Today,
Some teenagers beat up a homeless guy
For sport
What a senseless way for somebody to die.
Thank God their families turned them in
They're locked up in a cell
And when they face eternity,
I hope they burn in hell
Killin' someone just to have some fun
Damage like that just can't be undone.
You'll remember me.
I'm the guy on your TV
You saw me with my baseball bat
As I beat that guy to death.
I did it for a laugh,
No you can't have my autograph
I'm doin' five to life,
And I haven't got a heart.
You'll remember me.
I'm the guy on your TV
