It's Not Me It's You
by Brian Hazelbower and Robert (couch grouch) George
Sam knows it's no use-a-lyin' he'd been out past the moon with Brian
Drainin an a crushin Old Milwaukee cans
But he downs two more Alka-Seltzer stumbles up to his wife and tells her
He's sorry he got “honey I got held up at the plant”
But she filled an old suitcase and their future won't fit inside
An as she leaves the look on her face says to his bloodshot eyes
It's not me it's you it's hard to say but it's true
And since you'll never change I'll do what I gotta do
Cos it's not me it's you
The jar on the bar is full of jerky and Sam's drunken jokes are down n dirty
An Brian can't even, look up and laugh
Later on Sam's barely standin, but Brian ain't touched what Sam’s been buyin
and he settles up for a, a half-finished draft
He trembles as he shakes Sam’s hand says buddy we've shared our last drink
My fam'ly gave me justa one more chance but it’s only cos they think
It's not me it's you it's sad to say but it's true
And since you'll never change I'll do what I gotta do
Cos it's not me it's you
Well Sam’s sittin home with twelve empty beer
Judgin him like a jury of his peers
Wonders how he came to be this kinda man
Then something snaps inside as he looks at those cans an he says
It's not me it's you it’s hard to see but it’s true
And since you'll never change I'll do what I gotta do
Cos it's not me it's you I’m finally seein what’s true
And since you'll never change I'll do what I gotta do
Cos it's not me it's you
It’s you ooh it’s you
