Story behind the song
I got the idea from another song called "Slow moving outlaw" which has the line "All the old stations are being torn down and the HIGH FLYING TRAINS no longer roll.
Lyrics
He was born on the rails of a south bound freight somewhere in the middle of New Mexico. And he lived his life like his daddy before on a high flying train. On a high flying train Lord a high flying train Well the people would come from miles around to hear the clicking of the wheels oh the mighty sound of a train. And the whistle would blow you could hear the echo as it rolled through the canyons and across the plains. From a high flying train Lord a high flying train Then late one night on a death bound ride somewhere near the Texas line. The rails came loose, tightened like a noose around the wheels of a high flying train Lord a high flying train Lord a high flying train Well the people would come from miles around to hear the clicking of the wheels oh the mighty sound of a train. And the whistle would blow you could hear the echo as it rolled through the canyons and across the plains. From a high flying train Lord a high flying train He was born on the rails of a south bound freight somewhere in the middle of New Mexico.
